Wilber Smith: Adventures

I am currently reading a Wilber Smith book called Blue Horizon. I started reading Wilber Smith books when my sister gave me one to read many years ago, she had read nearly all of his books. I think it took my sister a while to get me reading Wilber but once I started there was no stopping me. The Courtneys and other family histories he wrote about were amazing.

One of the things that really sticks out in my mind and is brought back to me now with this current book is the adventure that is in these books. The books on the whole are set before the twentieth century, and the world is such a open unexplored place, especially Africa. There are adventures around every corner. I used to lie and read on my bed and dream about Africa, its vast unexplored openness.

And I suppose the sad things today is there are no unexplored lands left. Man is all over the world, all packed in tightly, there is probably very few places I could go to today where no man had been before. There are no frontiers, there are no more real adventures to be had any more, well at least on Earth. But its good fun to read about it.

I look forward to the next Courtney family adventure...Blue Horizon was fabulous like all the others.....one adventure after the other.My intention is to read the entire collection once more. Please do not take as long with the next adventure with the new generation, I suppose it will be led by Little Georgie with trouble from his cousin in England (Verity`s half brother)
W. Smith is one great story teller. I`m waiting for the next one but how long can I wait.....I`m 80 years old.

I was given one of his books 15 yrs ago and since then, I have tried to read all his books, he is incredible and YES, he does make you dream of Africa as he has such a natural way of making you visualize the places he is writing about.

Like all the other people that visit this site i also love Wilber Smiths books. i am curruntly half way through reading Blue Horizon and i am enjoying every word of it. But since i am about to do my practise GCSEs i have had to stop to rivise, i am now itching to find out what is happens to jim and louisa next. the first wilber smith book i read was Warlock and i have been hooked ever since by his ability to make his readers see, hear and even smell the land and rivers of Africa. i would recomend any of his books to anyone since he is incaperble of writing a bad one.

I first got given a Wilber Smith book when i was in bed and bored and i asked my mum to give me a book to read so i'd have something to read that book was Elephant song and it took me about 3 weeks to read but i loved every minute of it. Then when i got my hands the Courney books i had to read all of them. so far about 5 months down the track i've read Monsoon, Blue Horizon, Rage, A time to die, The burning shore, Birds of pray and i'm about to start when the lion feeds. These books have given me a new look at Africa and one of the many places i'm am going to go in this world is the coast of Africa where most of the courtneys have sailed by.

Wilbed started my reading books again almost 25 years ago. I only read 2 authors, when there done I guess so am I. What happened to W's first wife?

I have read, I think, all of Wilber Smith's books but I cannot remember the characters in the books I read over 20 years ago. I like to know the time line and the families in the series of books so I know in what order to re-read them. Does anyone know if there are any precis of the books on the internet?

when is wilber smith going to write another book like warlock. i really need to read another egyptian book i am having withdraw symtoms. he writes books amazingly. and i want him to write another book. warlock was the first book i ever read.when i was 10 and no other book has toped that and now i am 15.PLEASE WRITE ANOTHER EGYPTIAN BOOK WITH LOSTRIS AND TANUS.

Hi all, i started reading Wilber Smith books when i found birds of prey at my school libary. After reading the book i became interested in what other books he had written, so now i have read River god, warlock, elephant song and others anyway i wanted to get my opinion out, i think that Wilber Smith's book's should become movies, so for people out there who cannot read can be excited and captivated in the movies as much as i was in the books.
