Welcome

Welcome to our family website, a look into the lives of the Walker-Smith family, well thats the idea

To find out more about us read the whoweare page, to find out more about this site have a look at the colophon... hmm which doesn't yet exist

This site as it stands at present looks excellent on Mac, with Sarari, Netscape7.1, and Mozilla Firebird0.7, and now IE. If it looks bad in your browser, either buy a Mac or upgrade to the latest browsers!

This is a work in progress, I hope to turn the whole site over to this look and feel over the next few days, so this site may not be working 100%, esp in those pesky window browsers.

1 hour or more at Lan Chile office

Andrea and I spent one hour or more in the offices of Chile's national airline today, trying to pay for our holidays to Cuba, boy was it difficult, it was like trying to get blood from stone. To start with the guy who is dealing with us was a complete wet, I am not sure what he was doing there. And then eventually the system was not working properly, this took him thirty or so minutes to sort out. My credit card was charged and annulled no less than three times. Don't worry tonight I shall be checking my account.

Sometimes its a little like this in Chile, its not a service centric country, and especially so in Antofagasta. I have seen this both at work and at home, sometimes it can make your blood boil.

With only three charges to your credit card in only an hour of waiting, I think you got away well. This is Chile. It's fun.

After being told by Lan Chile from Vancouver BC tht there were no charges for boxed bicycles, the agent in Puerto Montt charges some members of our cycling group $67 US, my wife and I $120 each to Vancouver BC and another member nothing also for a Vancouver BC destination.

Seems like policy is unevenly applied. If you are going to cycle Chile, an activity I highly recommend, get Lan Chile to give you the charges in writing before you travel!
